Single day porcelain crown

Single day porcelain crowns

Dental Lounge is introducing a breakthrough in innovation by providing patients with single day porcelain crowns! This came about as Dr Gamer Verdian followed his vision to redesign the typical dental crown experience patients endure. This is the first of its kind in Sydney.

Previously, patients would be required to segment their appointment into two. This would include a wait time of up to 2 weeks in between to allow for lab processes and the crown manufacturing. Unfortunately, during this time a patient would need to wear a temporary crown. However, this is not ideal, as temporary crowns do not offer the same strength or aesthetic satisfaction as the real crown is designed to provide.

Thanks to Dr Verdian’s persistence, Dental Lounge now introduces its very own state of the art lab for E-MAX ceramic crowns. This removes the need for a two-week turnaround, provides huge flexibility and ensures standards are exactly where they should be!

Many practices send their lab work to be completed overseas for a more cost-effective approach, however Dental Lounge recognizes the benefits of monitoring the entire process from start to finish. There are only a few special circumstances where it may be best to opt for a two-visit crown. Patients can otherwise benefit from having the treatment successfully completed in just one day.

FAQ

What types of crowns are there?

Porcelain is a highly aesthetic type of ceramic used for crowns. Zirconia is another choice of material, which offers extreme strength capabilities. An E-MAX, which is a lithium-disilicate ceramic, combines great aesthetics with high strength for an all-ceramic crown.

Porcelain and other all-ceramic crowns are chosen for their ability to closely resemble a natural tooth. Optical properties such as translucency, lustre and subtle colour pigmentation are all highly important factors satisfied by porcelain and ceramic materials.

All-ceramic crowns do not have metal copings (internal metal framework). This means they will not discolour at the gum line or appear black on the edges, as is often noticed on patients with metal coping crowns.

Similar to any other type of medical and cosmetic treatment, your dentist will assess the oral condition and inform you of your options available. In most cases a CEREC design and made a crown using E-Max ceramic, is the most suitable option. However, cosmetic cases involving front teeth, gold and partial metal crowns may require specific intervention from hand-picked labs external to the practice.

A single appointment lasts from 1 to 2 hours depending on unique requirements involved. Most of this time patients are welcome to watch Netflix and chill, particularly at the interval where the crown is being designed and manufactured.

If a crown has to be made off-site, two appointments of approximately 1 hour each will be required.

The appointment should not hurt. Local anaesthtic is administered via The Wand injection system, and a number of additional options are available for patients that may wish to have them. These include happy gas, numbing gel and more. Patients will also be offered breaks if desired, to maintain comfort and relaxation.
