There are thousands of implant manufacturers now but here at Dental Lounge we pride ourselves on only using top of the range Nobel Biocare and Straumaan implants. Both companies have supplied millions of implants around the world.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

There are thousands of implant manufacturers now but here at Dental Lounge we pride ourselves on only using top of the range Nobel Biocare and Straumaan implants. Both companies have supplied millions of implants around the world.

We feel it is important to always check the type of implant you are having placed as it is going to be part of your body for the rest of your life and at some stage the restoration on top will need servicing. Put it another way, imagine trying to find someone with a charger for that old brick of a mobile phone in 20 years.

F.A.Q.

After a thorough examination, investigations using the latest in x-ray technology and discussion about your expectations, a personalised treatment plan will be put together for you by our dental surgeons.

The surgery is normally carried out under sedation and always under local anaesthetic. If required, teeth are extracted and, where possible, the implants are placed immediately. If bone grafting is necessary instead, this is completed to prepare the site for optimal implant placement at a later date.

A healing phase is always necessary and can range from weeks to months, however 3–4 months is usual (complex cases involving bone or soft tissue replacement normally take longer)

Once the implant(s) has fully integrated, impressions are taken and the final crown or bridge is custom designed and fabricated by our expert local technicians to fit your mouth precisely.

Dental Lounge is partnered with the Sydney Implant Institute and is renowned as one of the leading implant practices in Sydney and Australia.

Implants need more bone and gum around them and cannot be placed as close together as teeth are, therefore we usually don’t replace each missing tooth with an implant.

Each extra implant adds to the cost of the surgery and titanium implants are stronger than tooth roots, so they can handle extra force. This means, for example, if there are three teeth missing in a row we often will only place two implants that will support a three-tooth bridge.

Although it is difficult to guarantee anything involving the human body, as the chances of your implants successfully integrating are very high, if possible, we will replace any implant that fails to integrate free of charge.

Both Nobel Biocare and Straumaan have long-term scientific research supporting the use of their implants and which means we are confident in the quality of the implants we are placing and therefore have success rates over 95%

Maybe, one of our most common problems we come across when working with implants from other practices or overseas is if we are unable to identify the implant system we are unable to repair or maintain the restoration on top.

We only use implants made by well-established European companies with widely available implant components.

Unlike other prosthetics like dentures or bridges which rest on your teeth and gums, dental implants are thoroughly incorporated into the jaw through a process called osseointegration. Through this process, the bone of your jaw grows right into the surface of the firmly fixing the implant in position in the jaw

This means that biting forces, rather than increasing the load and stresses on adjacent teeth or onto the gums, are transferred and dispersed through the jaw. The bone responds and adapts to the forces of biting and just like a natural tooth so a dental implant not only looks like, but also feels, performs and stimulates the bone like a natural tooth.

We only use Nobel Biocare and Straumaan implants, both well-established European companies with long-term scientific research supporting their use.

Generally yes, but a lot depends on a number of factors including your general health, time since the tooth was removed and the location of the missing tooth in your mouth. Dental implants can be used to replace one tooth or an entire arch of teeth, come and see one of our experienced dentists for a complimentary assessment and consultation.
