Oral sedation involves taking one or two tablets of valium or a valium-class drug 30 minutes before your appointment. This allows our patients to be much more relaxed and at ease about dental treatment.
We have often had some of our most nervous patients, who would avoid dental chairs at all costs, fall asleep for a 3 hour appointment being completely relaxed.
You can request oral sedation for any of your appointments, provided you do not have any medical condition that would deem you unsuitable.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
This is dependant on each person’s tolerances. It is best assessed by previous experiences with this class of drugs and close monitoring during the appointment. In most cases for dental treatment it is very effective.
