Nightguards

Night guards or occlusal splints are used to protect ones teeth by having a custom made plastic splint that usually covers their upper teeth. The splint is usually recommended to patients with detrimental grinding or clenching habits.

Night guards are used to deprogramme patient’s jaw muscles and surrounding structures to reduce their damaging habits. These habits are quite evident at routine check-ups where its evidenced by worn down and/or cracked teeth.

The symptoms of grinding or clenching can be sore jaws, headaches, neck aches, difficulty opening, pain on eating or chewing among others. A night guard can help relieve these symptoms within days in most cases.

The appointment for a nightguard involves impressions of teeth and bite measurements. Following this appointment, the splint is fitted approximately 1-2 weeks later.

Nightguard pricing ranges from – $600-$1000
