Sometimes, it's what you can't see that's critical to the success of what you can see. Implants need a great foundation – and we have many ways of building one.
Generally speaking, the more bone available, the better to anchor the implants - and the amazing thing about our bones is that they do regenerate. In a process known as Guided Bone Regeneration, the dentist can produce in the patient, enough bone to enable the placement of implants – or to strengthen those already placed. The bone grafts can be either
A. Autografts (from the patient's own bone);
B. Allografts (from other donors) or
C. Xenografts (animal bone that's specially processed, bio-compatible and completely safe). Then there are synthetic
D. Alloplastic grafts fillers that promote surface bone growth. It might sound like science fiction, but it all ends up looking great.
